This part runs from 53:10 to 1:22:36 of the session video.

Drake shows the CGNF Hawaiʻi website (a members' Q&A seeded from Facebook, and the certification list with this seminar on it), assigns cleanup chiefs, reads the certificate and hands them out with Cho and Kim Chang, the interpreter. Jason gets the first Level 2. The tape ends as everyone heads to the flag post for the group photo.

What he taught

The lesson

How did the seminar close, and what did CGNF Hawaiʻi set up for the people who finished it?

The setting

The last 29 minutes of the seminar. No teaching. Drake, in an orange cap, puts the CGNF Hawaiʻi website on the projector, then runs the certificates from the front with Cho and Kim Chang, the interpreter, in a teal blouse, handing them over. The projector still shows a CGNF Hawaiʻi site post about the JADAM book during the certificate talk; nobody discusses it. The group photo was taken on the lawn right after the tape ends.

Key points
  1. CGNF Hawaiʻi's members' area now has a Q&A system, seeded with questions and answers from Facebook

Members ask questions, vote answers up or down, and see who answered. Drake wrote a script to import the Facebook threads. Asked whether Cho answers there: not yet; it has to be translated, and that bridge is still being built.

  2. The certification site lists Level 3 'Nutrient Cycle, Makapala, October 21'

Graduates will be listed there, 'so we have an open system to know who is there'.

▶ 56:20 Shown in the room

  3. cgnfi.org (CGNF International) is for translating Cho's books together

Probably through a wiki, Drake says.

  4. The certificate: completed the advanced seminar on the nutrient cycle, Oct 19–21, 2017, Makapala

'This is to certify that this natural farmer has completed the advanced seminar on nutrient cycle and CGNF farming philosophy, technology and its applications, conducted by Cho Global Natural Farming Hawaii, from October 19th to 21st, 2017, in Makapala, Hawaii.' Wording copied from the last training held there, with the nutrient-cycle line added.

  5. Peggy and Ron gave a jar of honey to every participant

'Because you guys are so sweet.' One jar was set aside for Cho.

    ▶ 1:00:45 As spoken

  6. CGNF Hawaiʻi elections in December 2017; the group expects to seek a new president

Drake asks for leadership to grow Master Cho's vision. Members can find each other on the members' site; he finds email a poor tool.

    ▶ 1:02:43 As spoken

  7. Kim Chang, the interpreter, is thanked: 'We couldn't have done this without her'

Drake calls her 'Ms. Kim' (heard as 'Kim Chang'); she gets her own certificate.

    ▶ 1:10:17 As spoken

  8. Jason Reisslin gets the first Level 2 certificate

'Our first Level 2.' Surname spelling not confirmed.

    ▶ 1:12:48 As spoken

  9. Kim Chang reads out Drake's own certificate

'Here's to Eric Drake Weinert Jr.'

    ▶ 1:19:21 As spoken

  10. Out to the flag post for the group photo, 'same as last time'

The tape ends here; the photos were taken on the lawn a few minutes later.

    ▶ 1:22:23 As spoken

Hold it loosely
  • Not teaching: this page is website news, admin and the ceremony.
  • Many names were called over applause; spellings in the transcript are as heard, and several are uncertain.
  • Cho speaks once (about 1:03:16) when he hears his name; his Korean wasn't captured, only the interpreter's joke about it.
For your farm
  • The certificate is one of completion for the advanced nutrient-cycle seminar, Oct 19–21, 2017, Makapala; it isn't a farm certification.

Next to Master Cho's books

  • Agrees

The certificate is a completion certificate for the advanced seminar CGNF-Hawaiʻi's advanced training program says the same: a certificate of completion for advanced-level education, not a certification of you or your farm.

  • Agrees

Jason named 'our first Level 2' The same document says CGNF-Hawaiʻi issued Level 2 certificates of competency, and that Level 2 holders could award Level 1 certificates.

“So if we all bring our hearts together, we'll be there.”
