Certificates, the First Level 2, and the Group Photo
Drake Weinert, Pure KNF; organizer of the seminar
Video of this visit will be added to the members' archive. The transcript times below match that recording.
Drake shows the CGNF Hawaiʻi website (a members' Q&A seeded from Facebook, and the certification list with this seminar on it), assigns cleanup chiefs, reads the certificate and hands them out with Cho and Kim Chang, the interpreter. Jason gets the first Level 2. The tape ends as everyone heads to the flag post for the group photo.
What they found
How did the seminar close, and what did CGNF Hawaiʻi set up for the people who finished it?
The last 29 minutes of the seminar. No teaching. Drake, in an orange cap, puts the CGNF Hawaiʻi website on the projector, then runs the certificates from the front with Cho and Kim Chang, the interpreter, in a teal blouse, handing them over. The projector still shows a CGNF Hawaiʻi site post about the JADAM book during the certificate talk; nobody discusses it. The group photo was taken on the lawn right after the tape ends.
-
CGNF Hawaiʻi's members' area now has a Q&A system, seeded with questions and answers from Facebook
Members ask questions, vote answers up or down, and see who answered. Drake wrote a script to import the Facebook threads. Asked whether Cho answers there: not yet; it has to be translated, and that bridge is still being built.
-
The certification site lists Level 3 'Nutrient Cycle, Makapala, October 21'
Graduates will be listed there, 'so we have an open system to know who is there'.
-
cgnfi.org (CGNF International) is for translating Cho's books together
Probably through a wiki, Drake says.

- Not teaching: this page is website news, admin and the ceremony.
- Many names were called over applause; spellings in the transcript are as heard, and several are uncertain.
- Cho speaks once (about 1:03:16) when he hears his name; his Korean wasn't captured, only the interpreter's joke about it.
- The certificate is one of completion for the advanced nutrient-cycle seminar, Oct 19–21, 2017, Makapala; it isn't a farm certification.
Next to Master Cho's teaching

Agrees
The certificate is a completion certificate for the advanced seminar CGNF-Hawaiʻi's advanced training program says the same: a certificate of completion for advanced-level education, not a certification of you or your farm.

Jason named 'our first Level 2' The same document says CGNF-Hawaiʻi issued Level 2 certificates of competency, and that Level 2 holders could award Level 1 certificates.

53:11 Let's give it up for Master Cho, man. So we do need to go take a picture like that. So we got a few things we need to do. One of those is we need to take a picture because it's good to document everyone being here like this. And another thing I wanted to do just briefly here in a minute. I know the way I saw us clean up the kitchen, I know we're going to be super awesome when we're cleaning up everything else. So I just wanted to show you just real fast on this web page, which is Cho Global Natural Farming Hawaiʻi .org, CGNF Hawaiʻi .org.
53:55 Here, this is our organization's website with Master Cho. And if you're a member and you click on this members link here, it will take you into this other section that you have to be a valid member of our organization. But in here, just recently, there's now support questions here. and it says frequently asked questions which isn't exactly true still a work in progress but you click on this guy it will now take you to this whole question and answer system and the way this works is you can upload things good questions you can also bubble up good answers
54:33 and so why i was frustrated by facebook of just all the crazy things happening in there and this enables us as members to have a system where we can ask questions. So I know I asked you to pull all your questions. Sure. I was hoping this last section would be question and answer for us, but largely we have to ask a lot of them. But this here, go ahead and ask your questions here. This is so this is like our official channels that we can get those translated into answers from Master Cho, as well as weigh in with each other and have, of your name when you actually go to a question.
55:11 And so what I did right now is I imported all the questions from Facebook and went through the process of importing all the answers from Facebook into this group. So we're not just starting from scratch, because tons of these questions have already been answered. So it looks a little weird. It's because I just wrote a script to do this. But essentially, you can upvote questions or downvote or star. And then when you answer it, it'll say your name and each of us, you can find out who's who. Like what's my reputation and the answers and the questions I ask, which I didn't really ask that many.
55:46 I'm gonna probably change that to say Facebook or something. But this will kind of give us a platform we can start to get this flow so the same question doesn't always keep getting answered, which is largely, you know, we need to spread that out. So that's happening there. And then also here is the certification website that we have going, where if you go to the home page, you'll see a system I've set up with our certification committee here and trying to get this together. But if you go to our level three, which is you guys, now there's a Nutrient Cycle in Makapala on October 21st,
56:23 and eventually you will be listed here as well as someone that's valued. So that way we have an open system to know who is there. And so when he's talking about upholding this quality and everything, these pieces are coming in place. And like I was saying, we're putting our clothes on as we're running, but I'm trying my best to do, to share my gifts, which I'll say it one last time, I'm a computer scientist. Does Master Cho answer those questions? We don't have time. So the method right now, no. But yes, this will be the bridge that we'll be developing because it has to be translated through.
57:10 And I run one other project, which when he was talking about translating the books, I also have cgnfi.org, which is CGNF International, and those books will be there so we can all figure out a way, probably through, like, a wiki system to help translate the books and get these things out there in a way that makes sense for us so I'm trying my best on those ends of that so what I wanted to do before we get away from here and while I still got you is that I need nine chiefs, because what I'm going to do is assign these areas to make sure they're clean.
57:57 So raise your hand when you're going to volunteer for cleaning. Make sure the male dorm is clean. Joe, the female dorm is clean. The male bathroom. This doesn't mean you have to clean it by yourself, it means you're in charge of making sure it's clean, right? We're all going to work together to clean this spot, so I'm going to pick Kuike for the male bathroom. Female bathroom. Leslie, mahalo. This classroom. Barbara. The porch outside. They're getting easier as we go.
58:43 Larry, Larry got that one. The backyard. MC Roberts, right? [name unclear] Oh, yeah, I'm going to get excited with the wobble group. [unclear] The lounge downstairs with the ping pong is, Isis, thank you. And then the dining room, which I think is already kind of, but I just need someone to double check that that's clean. Okay, Anthony, you're up there. Oh, okay, thank you. Okay, so those are all those areas. So when you have your chiefs make sure those areas are completely clean when they are, check in with Davina,
59:28 and then we'll make sure all those areas are together. So thank you. So last but not least, I may be forgetting other things too, but we have some certificates. So on this certificate here, I'm going to read it for everybody before we come on to receive them. But essentially, I copied kind of the verbiage from the last time we had a training here. But I added in this one on nutrient cycle. So it says this is to certify that this natural farmer has completed the advanced seminar on nutrient cycle and
1:00:13 CGNF farming philosophy, technology and its applications, conducted by Cho Global Natural Farming Hawaii, from October 19th to 21st, 2017, in Makapala, Hawaii. So we will do that. And so when we're done with this receiving your certificate, Peggy and Ron were kind enough out of their hearts, and this is the kind of angels we're in the presence of, to donate a jar of honey for each of us to take home because you guys are so sweet. Thank you.
1:01:08 And that one's for Dr. Cho. Yeah, that one's reserved. So before, right when you're going to go, please take your chair to the back, so it's stacked up when we're all out of this. And make sure you grab your honey. Any questions before we move on to next? Mahalo! Question? So if we'd all like to stay in contact, is there a way that we can have emails to contact each other if you can get the ones you wanted? No. Contacting stuff, we're trying to get, well, I don't know. I do have a majority of folks' emails here, but I find email to be not the best communication device,
1:01:52 but I don't want my bias to stop something from growing. I was just going to say, can't we find each other on the members' site? Right, and that's the way I'm trying to build community so we know where we are. I've got a lot of people that came with ideas, and really we're trying to build our CGNF team out further than this group that's been really dedicated. I mean, not that you guys aren't dedicated, but like old warhorses or whatever. I don't know where it is. But we really want to empower you guys to be, all of us to be a team, to work together, to share our aspirations.
1:02:38 And many of you have come forward with ideas, and I'd love to work with you. We did just, we will be having our elections for CGNF Hawaii coming up in December, coming up, and I think we will be seeking a new president, so that's out there, and so hopefully we get some leadership that will really set us forward thinking and how we can grow Master Cho's vision because what he said is exactly this right here. So if we all bring our hearts together, we'll be there. Question? No, no, no. He said, did you say a bad word about me?
1:03:26 He's joking. He heard his name, that's why. Not at this point. It's based on how many people are voted here. It's just the short answer. After we get this certification, can we go out over there and take this picture? It's raining. So yeah, let's do that. So here's the flow. You're going to come up, you're going to get your certificate, you're going to put your chair back over there, and then you're going to go out to the porch. And so once everyone, I mean you can stay inside for other folks to get their certificates,
1:04:13 it's not like [unclear], but then we're going to go outside, do that, grab your honey afterward when you bring your chair back. And then once we're done with the picture, we'll start cleaning and have the teams check out. If we run out of honey, let me know and I'll make sure they get some. Oh, awesome, thank you, thank you. Okay, so So, first award: Nami. Next award is to Nazumo. Zumo.

And my friend from Let's Grow Hilo, Bill DeVoe! Woo! There he is. Woo!
